Account deletion and data retention
Deleting your Ember account
From inside the app, in one step, at any time.
How to delete
In the iPhone app, open Settings → Delete account and confirm. Your account and the data attached to it are deleted straight away. If you cannot open the app, email hello@emberfocus.io from the address you signed in with, and it will be done for you.
What is deleted
- Your account: your email address, account ID and sign-in.
- Your finished sessions and the goals saved with them.
- Your profile (first name, what you are building, your role).
- Your Routine (scheduled focus times).
- Your Quest memberships, check-ins, flames, milestones and progress, and your blocks.
- Your personal Initiation: its script record and its audio file.
- Your waitlist entry, if you joined it with the same email.
What lives only on your iPhone (your journal, reflections, streak and settings) is not on Ember's servers. Delete the app to remove it from your device.
What is kept, and why
- Feedback you sent is kept to improve Ember, with your email and the link to your account removed from it.
- Reports you made about Quest check-ins are kept without your identity, so that deleting an account cannot erase a moderation record. Reports made about you are kept so they can be reviewed.
- Anonymous analytics (events keyed to a random install identifier, never to your account or email) are kept for product analysis. They cannot be linked back to you.
- Crash reports sent to Sentry contain no account information and are removed by Sentry on its own retention schedule.
- Backups: deleted data can remain in the database provider's encrypted backups for a short time, until those backups expire. It is not restored or used from there.
Your subscription
Deleting your account does not cancel an Ember Pro subscription. Subscriptions are managed by Apple: cancel in your Apple Account settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions). Apple and RevenueCat keep records of the purchase as their own policies and the law require.
How long data is kept while you have an account
- Account data: until you delete your account.
- Feedback: kept to improve Ember; your email is removed when your account is deleted.
- Waitlist addresses (website): until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion.
- Anonymous analytics: kept for product analysis, not linked to you.
